Mbarara Regional Office joins MBACITA for Labour Day tree-planting initiative
The Mbarara Regional Office joined hands with the Mbarara City Traders Association (MBACITA) on Labour Day, Thursday, 1st May 2025, to participate in the “Greening Mbarara City Now and Forever” initiative. The day began with a business breakfast hosted by MBACITA at Penpal Gardens, starting at 8:00
a.m., bringing together the entire business community.
During the event, MBACITA officially launched a two-year tree-planting project dubbed GRENMC (Greening Mbarara City). The ambitious initiative aims to mobilise traders and stakeholders to plant
20,000 trees across Mbarara City, contributing to environmental sustainability and urban beautification.
The President of the National Traders Alliance, Mr. Godfrey Katongole, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) was also invited to attend and celebrate the event, highlighting the collaborative spirit among various organisations in supporting the city’s green agenda.
This greening project aligns with broader efforts to enhance Mbarara’s urban environment, promoting a healthier and more sustainable city for residents and businesses alike. The initiative reflects the commitment of the local business community to environmental stewardship and the city’s long-term development goals.
